Two Great Secrets Behind Serena Williams’ Dynamite Performances
Serena Williams began playing professional tennis at the young age of 14. All in a span of over two decades, she won 23 Grand Slam titles by consistently training and following a healthy lifestyle.
There are two strategies that Serena discovered, which have helped her tremendously both at a personal and professional level. She has made these effective strategies a habit while in and out of the tennis court. They are her daily must-do things, and we’re excited to share them with you right now!
She turns off her brain for a moment of peace…
This sounds strange, right? But this is what this 38-year-old tennis star practices daily to have a consistent and efficient performance every time. According to her, she’s always busy with her family, business, clothing line, and tennis that escaping from all of it and relaxing a bit is the only thing that makes her feel good. She says that there isn’t any specific way or method to give relief to the brain, so you can do anything from watching a TV program or a movie, meditating, to having a laugh to make you feel all relaxed.
As for Serena, she believes that watching Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr.—her two-year-old daughter—frees her from thinking about anyone or anything else for a moment, shutting her brain off for a while in the process. Whenever she looks at her little pack of happiness, she just instantly becomes focused on her alone, leaving everything behind. This strange practice significantly boosts her energy and makes her give the best every time. She believes that it makes her feel more energized, focused, and enthusiastic for the present-day as well as for the following day.
And she drinks more water to get more energy!
Serena says that her minimum amount of daily water intake goes to about a gallon to keep her hydrated and energized. She drinks more water, for she knows that lesser water intake can make her feel dehydrated and weak. Drinking enough water is essential for every individual to have a happy and healthy life, but water intake for athletes, like Serena Williams, must be much higher. According to a Harvard kidney specialist named Dr. Julian Seifter, four to six cups are enough to stay healthy and active.
As for Serena’s sister, Venus, who is also a renowned tennis star, her extraordinary performances are fueled by simple acts such as getting a sound sleep of 8 hours. She has also given up on her favorite junk foods, like delicious pancakes and mouthwatering honey buns.
