Easy Peasy Ways to Greatly Reduce Chances of Developing Alzheimer’s
Do you know the truth behind the general idea that Alzheimer’s disease happens with age? That is a common misconception that many people seem to believe when in reality scientists suggest otherwise. There are certain diseases that are capable of weakening the brain and slowing down regular bodily functions and Alzheimer’s happens to be one of them.
According to research, Alzheimer-related changes are set to start as early as your 30s to 40s. It is not necessary for an individual to develop it if they have a family history but it does put them at a higher risk of developing the condition in their later years. While this may sound disappointing, you shouldn’t lose hope yet because scientists and researchers have found that there are certain measures that can help in preventing Alzheimer’s disease.
Let’s take a look at what they are:
1. Get Movin’
Many people think about exercising when they want to get in shape or lose a few pounds, but exercise has way more benefits than the ends it is usually considered for. Your brain has the ability to develop a protein fragment named amyloid, which is said to fog your brain activity. And currently, there is no medicine to lower amyloid except for exercise.
2. Put That Brain to the Test
Another research has shown that challenging your brain is an effective way to keep it healthy. This can include activities like reading, solving crossword puzzles, and taking the unconventional route when it comes to your daily tasks. All these activities can help your brain by keeping it engaged and always in a get-go mode.
3. Sleep it Out
Sleeping is probably the most underrated activity that humans carry out. When you go to bed, this is the time where your brain relaxes and has the time to rid your mind of amyloid. On the other hand, without proper sleep, your brain suffers from high accumulation of this protein fragment and it goes into overdrive. So, next time you think about pulling an all-nighter, think again.
4. Eat Healthily
As simple as it sounds, eating healthy can drastically change the quality of life. There are certain nutrients that support brain function and improve it such as Vitamin D & E, Omega 3, and healthy fats. If you constantly ignore these nutrients, your brain will not receive the nourishment it requires, and subsequently increases the chance of you developing Alzheimer’s.
These tips are not only beneficial for preventing Alzheimer’s but they also happen to be excellent tips to help you lead a better quality of life.
