Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank Spend Their First Royal Tour at a Very Special Place

Right after their extravagant wedding last year, the new royal couple Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack visited a very special place that was dear to the princess’s heart. Find out what made this place special and memorable to the Princess of York.

The Royal Visit

Last Thursday, Princess Eugenie, along with her husband Jack Brooksbank as well as her father, Prince Andrew of York visited the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital as they inaugurated the new Stanmore Building. The hospital also named the Princess of York as the patron of the RNOH Charity and expressed its gratitude for her constant support for the institution.

Prince Andrew, Princess Eugenie, and Jack Brooksbank were enthralled to meet the new hospital resident robot, Pepper, who bring smiles to the patients' faces and cater to their needs.

During the event, the couple got to witness how the $65 million worth building combined the architecture’s prowess as well as innovative technology to offer the best environment for patients. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank also met Pepper, the interactive robot stationed in the children’s ward. This state-of-the-art robot is designed to follow simple instructions and have fun, informative conversations with the patients. Pepper can also detect facial expressions, emotions and even play games to keep the children entertained!

Reminiscing the Past

Princess Eugenie revealed she had her major surgery in the hospital when she was just 12 years old to correct her scoliosis. She underwent an eight-hour operation as the doctors inserted two metal rods on her spine. Then, the royal stayed in the Intensive Care Unit for three days before she got transferred to another ward for recovery. The princess was discharged after a week, healthier and happier than ever. Her royal highness even paid tribute to this life-changing event on her wedding by wearing a backless dress exposing the surgical scars on her neck.

The Unusual Couple

Princess Eugenie reveals she and Jack have a unique love story compared to other members of the royal household. She admitted they first met on a skiing trip in Switzerland where her husband was working at that time. They instantly felt the chemistry between them and have been in a long-term relationship for seven years.

While on their vacation to Nicaragua, the 32-year-old renowned wine merchant finally proposed to his longtime girlfriend, and surprisingly, he did so without even presenting her with a ring! Eugenie says they decided to design their engagement ring together after they returned from their trip. Their extravagant ring bore the design of salmon-pink sapphire surrounded by diamonds set in a gold band.

History Repeats Itself

Princess Eugenie also revealed another reason in an Instagram post why the visit was special to her. According to the royal, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, had also visited the hospital back in 1931. She expressed how it was special for her to be following her ancestor’s footsteps.

The said visit also hailed as the first public engagement of the royal newlyweds after their high-profile wedding last Fall. While Brookbanks cannot consider the said event as his official royal engagement, he is nonetheless thrilled to support his beloved wife on her special day.
